The Potomac Yard Metrorail Station site is located approximately midway between the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Braddock Road Stations along Metrorail’s existing Blue and Yellow Lines.

To be built on Metrorail’s Yellow and Blue, the transit station will also provide walkable access to regional transportation systems for neighbourhoods in the northeast area of the city.As part of the PYC Project and included within the works needed on site, Potomac yard Constructors (PYC) asked AZIERTA for the support on the design and generation of Drawings needed for the direct fixation (DF) Slab.

The project consisted in the check of the Contract Drawings provided and generation of the BIM model for the DF Slab to account for any modifications or changes from those Contract Drawings.

Specially challenging when it came to the crossover section of the DF Slab where numerous different parts were present in the area, namely; fasteners, elastomeric pads, steel plates, switch equipment, plinths, etc.
