SUMMARY
Not standard existing for this type of device.
Charlotte-based I-77 Mobility Partners is financing, developing, designing, constructing, operating and maintaining the 26-mile project. NCDOT retains ownership of the roadway and helps ensure I-77 Mobility Partners adheres to the standards of their contractual partnership. Construction, managed by Sugar Creek Construction, began in 2015. I-77 Express opened in November 2019.
By converting the current High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes to Express Lanes, more vehicles will travel more quickly through the north corridor.
I-77 Mobility Partners asked AZIERTA for the design of two sections of the I-77 highway that are crossing the Lake Norman in the north section of the Project, commonly known as the causeway sections, to reduce, and prevent litter in and around the lake.
The project consisted in the designing and installing litter nets fence, as a protective barrier and the application of shotcrete from the edge of the pavement on the shoulder and one foot down from the top of the slope which then will help stabilize the slope.
